It provides banking services in accordance with Islamic Sharia, and its principal subsidiaries are BLME Holdings, Boubyan Takaful Insurance Company and Boubyan Capital Investment Company. In 2024 it explored a merger with Gulf Bank, and both banks called the project off in January 2025.
