Banca dello Stato del Cantone Ticino (BancaStato) was founded in 1915. It is an autonomous institution under public law, based in Bellinzona. Under Swiss federal banking law it has the status of a cantonal bank. The Republic and Canton of Ticino owns 100% of its capital. By law, its purpose is to support the economic development of the canton. It offers the full range of universal banking services, mainly in Ticino. It also owns 100% of Axion SWISS Bank SA in Lugano.
