A group of holding companies controls the bank, including Cidade de Deus Companhia Comercial de Participações and Fundação Bradesco. Its shares trade on B3, and depositary receipts trade in New York and on Latibex in Madrid. The bank offers commercial, foreign exchange, consumer credit and mortgage banking. Through subsidiaries it also provides investment banking, asset management, leasing, cards, insurance, pensions and capitalisation bonds. The bank was founded in 1943 as Banco Brasileiro de Descontos. In April 2026 it completed a reorganisation that consolidated its health insurance businesses under Bradsaúde S.A., in which it holds 91.35%.
