Janata Bank PLC is a public limited company based at Janata Bhaban, Motijheel, Dhaka, and wholly owned by the Government of Bangladesh. It offers retail, corporate, trade finance and remittance services through branches in Bangladesh and four branches in the United Arab Emirates. It was formed in 1972 by combining United Bank Limited and Union Bank Limited under the Banks Nationalization Order. It was restructured as a public limited company, Janata Bank Limited, in November 2007 and later renamed Janata Bank PLC.
