Sonali Bank PLC is a public limited company incorporated in Bangladesh on 3 June 2007. Its registered office is in Motijheel, Dhaka. The Government of Bangladesh holds 452,999,989 of its 453,000,000 shares through the Finance Secretary, Ministry of Finance, and each director holds one symbolic share. The bank provides retail, SME, agricultural, corporate and trade finance banking in Bangladesh and has two branches in India, at Kolkata and Siliguri. It also acts as an agent of Bangladesh Bank for government treasury functions. Under a vendor agreement dated 15 November 2007, it took over the business of the nationalised Sonali Bank, which was formed in 1972.
