Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB) is a Saudi joint stock company listed on the Saudi Exchange, with its head office in Riyadh. It was established by Royal Decree in 1978 to take over the Saudi operations of The British Bank of the Middle East. HSBC Group holds a minority stake and is described by the bank as its strategic partner. SAB absorbed Alawwal Bank by legal merger in June 2019 and changed its name from The Saudi British Bank on 11 June 2023.
